The Congenital and Children's Heart Centre is a paediatric medical practice providing a comprehensive service for the rapid evaluation, investigation, diagnosis, surgical operation and ongoing care of all types of heart disease in infants, children and teenagers. Care is delivered by a team of paediatric and adult congenital cardiologists.

The Congenital and Children's Heart Centre provides a single point of referral to a range of specialties including paediatric cardiology, echocardiography, electrophysiology (heart rhythm disturbance), adult congenital cardiology and paediatric cardiac surgery.

Conditions evaluated and treated include:

  • Heart murmurs
  • Congenital heart disease - paediatric and adult
  • Acquired heart disease such as Kawasaki disease or cardiomyopathy
  • Arrhythmias
  • Generalised diseases requiring cardiac monitoring such as Marfan syndrome, Ehlers Danlos, Noonan syndrome, Hypertension
  • Cardiac surgery for all types of congenital and acquired heart disease in babies, children, teenagers and young adults

Symptoms such as:

  • Chest pains
  • Palpitations and tachycardia (sensation of a fluttering, fast or irregular heart beat)
  • Faints and 'funny turns'
  • Blue spells

Screening for:

  • Cardiomyopathy and sudden death
  • Athletes
  • Adverse cardiac family history
